About
Our factory is in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Every module we build is finished modular, built indoors.
Part of the same family as Zip Kit Homes.
Our story
Mountain Valley Prefab started in 2021 as a small family business in Idaho, alongside its sister company, Zip Kit Homes, in Utah. In 2025, Sven Heistad bought them both.
Sven has spent most of his life owning construction companies in New Hampshire. Building homes in a factory was a dream he'd carried for years. When he found Zip Kit and MVP, he bought both and moved across the country to run them hands-on.
Both companies were still startups, and it hasn't always been easy. Since then, Sven has built the team one great person at a time. For a while, the Zip Kit crew in southern Utah kept MVP running from afar. Then we met Nick.
Nick and Ori came to us as clients, building our first spec home in Pinedale, Wyoming. We liked Nick so much we hired him to lead sales in the northern region. When MVP needed someone to give it real focus, he stepped up. He's here to put MVP on its own two feet.
What we do best
Employee housing and rental developments. We've built units for firefighters in Sun Valley and for workers in Teton Valley, plus rentals in Driggs and Island Park. One of those clients liked the first round so much they came back for a second.
Where we're headed
We're leaning into what works: scaling up, and adding more happy clients and successful projects to the list. We'll keep getting better, too. Every project teaches us something, and we put it back into the product, our processes, our designs and how we deliver. The goal is to raise the bar on modular housing.
Coming soon: a local team, a sales office you can visit, and spec homes you can walk through. Big things are coming.
How we build
Every module we build is 95% finished on our factory floor in Idaho Falls. The rest is the 5% built on site, and our own crew sets the modules on your foundation.
Our modules are built to the same building codes as site-built homes (IRC and IBC). In the factory, state-certified or approved third-party inspectors check the work.
We build for projects in Utah, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming, for employers, housing trusts and rental developers. Here's how a project goes, from the first call to set day. See our projects, or tell us about yours.
